Flannel quilt board

I've seen here and there studios with a large "board" for laying out quilt squares and such. Needing one for myself I created a quilt board and boy was it super easy!

Supplies:

  • white flannel (depending on how big you want to go, I would say a minimum would be 1 1/3 yard)
  • Small nails
  • Hammer
  • Nice open wall space
Cut your fabric to size. Flannel seems to work the best for holding fabric up, though a strong gust of wind (say from a vacuum  will knock small pieces down. I choose to make mine large enough for baby sized quilts. Tack each corner with a small nail. Stick on fabrics squares and you are done!

Sweet free printables!

Cute feather printables from Little Honey Pie.  Everything appears to be written in French and hopefully some of you, unlike me, can read it!

These have to be the sweetest printable cards I've ever seen! From Eat Drink Chic, download these free printable hanky cards.

What kid (or adult) wouldn't love the bookmarks available from Ellinee?

A nursery on the cheap

This fall I was laid off and with a baby on the way my husband and I have cut back dramatically. Nurseries can often be expensive and run couples into the thousands. At the moment we're a bit short. I also don't want her first room to be barren and looking as fun as the inside of a brown paper bag. So how do you make a comfortable and cute looking nursery on the cheap?

You get creative. You make your own. You plan wisely.

I've been gathering ideas (thank you Pinterest) and my goal in the next few months is to sew, glue, stitch, whatever as much of Peanut's (the nickname her dad has given her from day one) room as possible.

Here's the cute things I can't afford but if I could I would:

Land of Nod Crib. Actually this was kindly given to us by my parents as a baby gift. I really don't recommend anyone trying to make their own crib unless they are some amazing master woodworker/furniture maker. Seriously.

Land of Nod dresser made changing table. Hell yes double duty system!

Great Little Trading Co. hanging bookshelf. If you are tight on space as we will be this is a great option  as opposed to a bookcase.

Target balloon rug

Land of Nod rocker. Midnight feedings wouldn't seem so bad in this. Right?

So the challenge for the next two months:

Make a cute and unique nursery on a limited budget.

Sweetpea and Co. Photoshoot

I was lucky to be paired up with an awesome photographer, Teresa Hermes, and have some of my dresses photographed on some pretty cute little models.

All of these are currently available in my shop available for custom order!

Picking up where I left off

So it's been awhile but things pile up and blogging suffers. Now I have some more free time and even more exciting our first baby is on the way!

So while I can't promise an every day frequency of posts, I will try not to be such a slacker.

Here it goes...
